Sovah Health today announced that nurse practitioner Karen Oaks, FNP has joined the Sovah Advanced Wound Center – Danville. Karen will be working alongside Dr. William McConahey to provide specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds.

“We are thrilled for Karen to join our Wound Center team,” said Angela Atkins, Director of the Sovah Advanced Wound Center - Danville. “Karen will be integral in helping us grow our program to meet the increasing need for highly specialized wound care in our community.”

Karen received her Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) and Masters of Nursing (MSN) at Old Dominion University (Norfolk, Virginia) and attended nursing school at Danville Regional School of Nursing. She became a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) through East Tennessee State University (Johnson City, TN). Karen is a member of the National League for Nursing, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners. She also is an Assistant Nurse Professor/Clinical Instructor at Averett University.

Karen is currently accepting new patients, and appointments may be made by calling 434.799.2282. The Wound Center is located on the first floor of the hospital in the J building. Patients may access the Center via the West Main Street entrance. Designated patient parking is available adjacent to the entrance.
