Detection & Diagnosis

Screening

Combined with a healthy lifestyle and regular check-ups with your primary care provider, cancer screenings are an important tool in the prevention and detection of cancer. Screenings are designed to detect the most common cancers at the earliest stage. Not all cancers have a screening test. Learn more about Cancer Screening Recommendations.

Imaging

Beginning with early detection from cancer screenings to diagnosis, treatment and recovery follow-up, Sovah Health - Danville and our two outpatient imaging centers, provide the technology necessary for evaluating cancer in your body. From our board certified and fellowship-trained radiologists to various accreditations, quality of the interpretation and imaging service is a priority. We use the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) which provides the referring physician access to the imaging pictures and results of testing within minutes of radiologist interpretation.

Our full-range of imaging procedures include: Diagnostic X-Ray, 2D/3D Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Interventional Radiology (IR). Each of these tools plays a unique role in diagnosis and staging of cancer. During treatment, these tests help evaluate how the cancerous tumor/disease has responded to radiation therapy, chemotherapy or surgery. Learn more about our imaging services.

To confirm cancer, samples of the tissue are obtained by a variety of methods using the latest technology and procedures available by our skilled radiologists and/or surgeons. The samples are then sent ot the pathology department for testing.
