| Cardio-Pulmonary
Care |
| Trained respiratory care practitioners work closely
with qualified physicians in diagnosing, managing
and treating cardiopulmonary problems or problems
related to the lungs. Respiratory care practitioners
perform diagnostic test and sleep studies. sleep
studies are also performed by qualified sleep study
professionals. |

| Cardiac
Services |
| The Cardiac Services Division works with patients
who have heart problems providing services that
include diagnostic, preventative treatment, education
and rehabilitative services. The Cardiac Services
health care team is a group of professionals trained
to work with patients. Diagnostic capabilities are
supported by the most advanced EKG, cholesterol
screening equipment, EEG, and Stress and Echo equipment.
Cardiac health education is an important part of
rehabilitation and offers such lifestyle modifications,
as monitored exercise, diet teaching and smoking
cessation. |

| Critical
Care Unit |
The critical care unit of the hospital is a combined
medical/surgical unit especially created for intensive
and coronary care nursing. Patients in intensive
care and closely monitored with a high patient-to-nurse
ratio of one nurse to every two patients.
A telemetry unit near the critical care unit offers
monitoring for patients who need to be watched closely
but do not require a critical care environment.

| Registered
Dietitians |
| Registered dietitians work closely with the patient's
physician to develop a dietary program based on
each patient's nutritional requirements. Diet is
an integral part of the patient's treatment program.
Dietitians also provide the patient with information
and guidance. |

| Emergency
Department |
| Our full-service emergency department, open 24
hours a day, seven days a week, is staffed with
physicians and nurses who are specifically trained
for the "ED". The emergency department
sees over 45,000 patients a year and is equipped
to handle a range of conditions and complications.
The emergency medical team concentrates on providing
the patient with prompt, effective care. The unit
if fully computer automated, which makes it extremely
efficient to review a patient's file and admit them
into the emergency department. |

| Family
Counseling/Social Work Services |
| The hospital provides social work and discharge
planning services for the patient's family members.
In special cases, it is often the patient's family
that needs help in planning around the patient's
condition after discharge from the hospital. Some
patients may require long-term care and the family
may need information, referrals and counseling along
the way. |

| Radiation
Oncology |
| The radiation oncology center is dedicated to
the treatment of cancer. Skilled radiation oncologists
utilize various techniques to treat different types
of cancer. Much of the equipment used at the center
enables our professionals to treat certain cancers
more effectively using photon and electron beam
radiation. |

| First
Step Treatment Center |
| "First Step" works with the patient
experiencing alcoholism or drug addiction. The program
is based on a 12-step treatment program designed
to help patients return to health through detoxification
and intensive therapy and reeducation. Family therapy
and education are also a vital part of the program.
Continuing support groups are available for the
patient for up to one year following discharge from
the hospital. The Precious Step Children's Program
addresses the need of children affected by a family
member dealing with substance abuse. Numerous support
groups are also available for the family of a patient
suffering from cancer or other conditions. Call

| Home
Health Care |
| Home Health provides medical services for patients
in their homes. Home care enables to patient to
return home faster. Patients recovering from an
illness or operation often can recuperate successfully
at home. In such cases, the hospital literally sends
the needed services to the patient. In addition
to providing nursing care and home health aides,
Home Health offers such rehabilitative services
as physical, speech, and occupational therapy. |

| Insight
Mental Health Program |
| This program offers medical and emotional treatment
for patients suffering from depression, anxiety
disorders, personality disorders and schizophrenia.
Different levels of care are all offered, including
inpatient services, partial hospitalization and
continuing care. Counseling for family members is
also part of the program. |

| LabCare |
| The hospital provides outpatient lab services
for patients, the community, physicians, and area
businesses. The LabCare Patient Service Centers
are located at 150 West Main Street and at Piedmont
Regional Medical Center II, 159 Executive Drive,

Day Surgery |
| Many procedures that once required admission to
the hospital are now available through on day surgery,
including laser surgery, diagnostic procedures,
physical therapy and counseling. Like home health,
one day surgery reduces the patients' stay and reduces
medical costs since the patient is not admitted
to the hospital. |

| Patient
Education |
| The hospital offers ongoing classes through "Healthy
Outlook." Topics change from months to month
and cover a range of subjects, many focusing on
preventative medicine and wellness. Patient education
plays an important role in the patient's overall
treatment plan. All of Danville Regional Medical
Center's health care professionals work to educate
the patient about his individual condition and treatment

| Physical
Rehabilitation |
| The hospital offers a comprehensive physical rehabilitative
program including outpatient and inpatient services
in the areas of physical, speech, and occupational
therapy. Rehabilitation programs are designed to
help the patient regain health following surgery,
accident or stroke. Based on the treatment plan
developed for the patient, services are often done
on an outpatient basis or through Home Health. A
patient recovering from a stroke or more serious
accident may need to stay in the inpatient rehabilitation
unit within the hospital. |
